“Are you sure? Wouldn’t that be a waste of potential?” -asked the student counselor when 14-year-old Lovisa told her she wanted to study to become a hairdresser. Looking back at that moment, they were both right. Lovisa did become a hairdresser, but her career didn’t last long. Although working with color and hair made her creativity flourish, it wasn’t challenging enough for the analytical side of her brain – just as the counselor had thought. Lovisa moved to Oslo searching for answers and found them when she applied to the Design and Product development program. Mathematics and engineering combined with creativity and holistic thinking was the perfect challenge. And one thing is sure; her creativity will always follow Lovisa, whether making a stylish haircut or as an engineer solving tomorrow’s challenges.
